Stamptivity

A free GaugeReel alternative — no download, no subscription

GaugeReel is a well-built native Windows app — but full exports run $10–$20/mo. Stamptivity Overlay does the core job free, in your browser, forever.

To be fair: GaugeReel has a bigger fixed gauge library and reads GoPro/DJI telemetry straight from your footage — genuinely useful if that’s your workflow.

Pick the right tool

Neither is strictly better

Choose Stamptivity if…

  • You want every feature free, with no subscription, ever.
  • You’re not on Windows — or you don’t want to install anything.
  • You’d rather open a tab than manage a license.
  • Your data already comes as a GPX or FIT file (watch, bike computer, Strava).

Choose GaugeReel if…

  • You want the largest gauge library available today (48+, 22 styles each).
  • Your only data source is GPMF embedded in GoPro/DJI/Insta360 footage, with no separate GPX/FIT file.
  • You’re fine paying $10–20/mo for a native desktop app.
  • You want GPU-accelerated native rendering for heavy export workloads.

FAQ

Is GaugeReel free?

GaugeReel has a free tier that exports without a watermark, but transparent (alpha) video export and the map gauges are locked behind the $10/mo Basic plan, and the full 48+ gauge library needs the $20/mo Premium plan. Stamptivity Overlay is free with no paid tier at all.

Is Stamptivity really free forever?

Yes — every feature (transparent export, map gauge, full editor) is free, with no watermark, no trial and no subscription.

Does Stamptivity read GoPro or DJI telemetry straight from the video file?

Not yet — GaugeReel auto-scans embedded GPMF metadata from GoPro/DJI/Insta360 footage directly. Stamptivity needs a separate GPX or FIT file (from your watch, bike computer, or Strava export) alongside your video.

Which has more gauges?

GaugeReel publishes a fixed catalogue — 48+ gauges with 22 draw styles each. Stamptivity Overlay’s system is composable instead of fixed: 15 data channels × up to 8 styles, 60+ combinations in the picker, and any element can be rebound to a different data source rather than staying tied to one gauge.

Does Stamptivity run on Mac and Linux?

Yes — it runs in any modern browser on Windows, macOS or Linux. GaugeReel is a native Windows app; macOS and Linux availability is still rolling out.

Do I need an account?

No account for either tool’s free tier. GaugeReel requires one once you subscribe to Basic or Premium.
